In this direction, the government is implementing schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Surakshaevam Utthaan Mahabhiyan- PM-KUSUM), Solar Rooftop Phase -2 and setting up of Renewable Energy parks. In his address at &nbsp;COP26 Summit in Glasgow in November 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted five goals which he named Panachamrit to deal with climate change.<br />”<br />”During the last eight years, India has witnessed the fastest rate of growth in renewable energy capacity addition among all large economies, with renewable energy capacity &nbsp;growing 1.97 times and solar energy expanding over 18 times. India has achieved the target of 40 percent of its installed electricity generation capacity from non-fossil energy sources much ahead of 2030 target.&nbsp; Now, the country’s installed Renewable Energy capacity stands at more than 150 Giga Watt while the nuclear energy based installed electricity capacity stands at 6.78 Giga Watt. This brings the total non-fossil based installed energy capacity to over 157 Giga Watt which is more than 40 per cent of the total installed electricity capacity of around 392 Giga Watt.<br />”<br />”The Prime Minister asserted that India is the only country delivering in 'letter and spirit' the commitments under the Paris Agreement At the UN climate meet, India once again highlighted that developed nations have not only failed to meet the 100 billion US Dollars goal annually of support to developing nations since 2009 but also continue to present it as the ceiling of their ambition all the way to 2025. India also launched 'One Sun, One World, One Grid' with an aim to harness solar energy wherever the sun is shining, ensuring that generated electricity flows to areas that need it most.
