It aims to make India a bigger and more important part of the global economy, pursuing policies that are efficient, competitive and resilient, and being self-sustaining and self-generating. On 12th May, 2020, Prime Minister Modi announced a 20 lakh crore rupees special comprehensive economic package to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Giving a clarion call for AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the Prime Minister also outlined five pillars of AatmaNirbhar Bharat – Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Demand.<br />”<br />”The AatmaNirbhar Bharat Package 2.0 was announced on 12th October 2020 and AatmaNirbhar Bharat Package 3.0 on 12th November 2020. Several measures were undertaken by the government under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan in different sectors which include Reforms for MSME, Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Processing sectors. This campaign also focussed on reforms for poor, farmers and migrant workers.<br />”India's spirit of self-reliance is evident from the fact that from zero production of Personal Protection Equipment kits before March 2020, the country developed the capacity to produce over 5 lakh PPE kits daily. From just one lab at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, nation now has over 3300 testing labs in the country. In diagnostics, India swiftly became self-sufficient and it emerged as the world’s cheapest provider of RT-PCR tests.<br />”<br />”Government worked round the clock to boost production and supply of essentials such as N95 masks, medicines, and Made in India ventilators. The Country also achieved self reliance in Vaccine Manufacturing which helped it to undertake world's largest vaccination drive smoothly. Progress started with the collective efforts of India’s researchers and scientists in streamlining the country’s response toward an evidence-based approach to successfully tackle the pandemic. India’s achievement in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic was acknowledged by global leaders who praised it for its 'Vaccine Maitry initiative which provided over 2,544 lakh vaccine doses to over 100 countries around the world.
