The AYUSH Minister Shripad Nayak has stressed on finding out ways and means for preserving the medicinal plants. He said that such plants are vanishing very fast due to their indiscriminate exploitation. <br/><br/>Mr.Nayak was inaugurating a National Workshop on Value Addition of Ayurvedic Herbal Resources in Gangtok in Sikkim today.He regretted that we could not achieve the expected progress in the field of Ayurveda since the agencies responsible for assuring quality control of Ayurvedic medicines do not think in a common direction. Mr.Nayak informed that the Centre is planning to soon develop a medicinal plants park in Sikkim for preservation of herbal plants. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the Governor Shrinvas Patil urged the Ministry of AYUSH experts to guide the Sikkim farmers on growing medicinal plants in various tropical regions of the State and also to help in marketing of such produce.<br/><br/>The Sikkim Health Minister AK Ghatani also spoke on the occasion. Our Gangtok correspondent reports that some one hundred experts from all over the country are attending the National Workshop organized by the Central Council of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences.
