Avoid unnecessary litigation process: Law Minister

The Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily have urged the state Chief Ministers to avoid getting their governments engaged in unnecessary litigation process. He said that this will help in bringing down the number of court cases. Mr. Moily in his letter to Chief Ministers pointed out that the government is the biggest litigant in courts and it has been found that the departments are indulging in unnecessary litigation. The law minister also asked the state governments to establish review committees to decide on the need for filing cases on the merit of each individual case and on the need for going into appeal against a court verdict in a superior court.<br/>
