In Jammu & Kashmir, rescue operation is underway to trace out missing soldier who was buried under avalanche in Kargil sector of Ladakh on Thursday.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, PRO of Udhampur based Northern Army Command, Col SD Goswami told AIR that a natural avalanche triggered by a mild earthquake hit an Army Post located at an altitude of 17500 feet in Kargil Sector on 17th of this month. <br/><br/>He said two soldiers who were on surveillance duty were washed away in the avalanche. The Army spokesman said one soldier was rescued in initial rescue operation who is recuperating. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Srinagar Jammu national highway continued to remain closed for 4th consecutive day today. Efforts were underway to move passenger vehicles and trucks stranded on the highway towards safer places.

He said two soldiers who were on surveillance duty were washed away in the avalanche. <br/><br/>The Army spokesman said immediate rescue operations were launched in which one soldier was rescued. He added the second soldier was still missing. The rescued soldier is medically stable and is recuperating.
