In Jammu and Kashmir, eleven jawans were killed as avalanches struck two army camps in Ganderbal and Bandipora districts of Kashmir Valley. Defence spokesman told AIR that eight bodies of jawan have been recovered so far from Dawar in Bandipora district. He said the rescue operation is going on. The death toll is feared to rise as more troopers are believed to be under the avalanche. A massive avalanche struck the Brigade headquarters of the army in Dawar village of Gurez sub-division of Bandipora district last night. In another incident at Sonamarg in Ganderbal district, 3 troopers of army were killed when an avalanche hit an army camp last night.
