Commuters in Delhi are facing diffculties as the autorickshaw and taxi unions are observing strike in the city today. They are protesting against the mandatory installation of Geo Positioning System, GPS, in autos. The autorickshaw unions are also demanding subsidy on the GPS devices while both the unions are also demanding a hike in fare. The All Indian Trade Union Congress along with its associated 14 auto unions, are not taking part in the strike after assurance from the Transport authorities to look into their grievances.Meanwhile, the Delhi Transport Corporation, DTC, has made all arrangements to clear the extra rush in view of the strike. DTC has deployed extra buses across the city from railway stations, interstate bus terminals, airport, hospitals and other important places. The Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami has directed all the Depot Managers and Regional Managers of the DTC to ensure maximum out-shedding of buses so that the passengers could reach their destinations, easily.
