In Australia, the death toll from the country's worst flooding in a decade in the state of Queensland has now risen to 10. Rockhampton city of the state has been badly hit with many people being forced to flee. Military flights rushed to restock the city before it is cut off by floodwaters that have turned a huge swath of the outback into a lake, while police confirmed two more deaths in the crisis. More than 20 towns in Queensland have been cut off or flooded across an area larger than France and Germany, with more than 200,000 people affected. Officials have said that the crisis could last another month. Prime Minister Julia Gillard extended emergency relief to those affected, including low-interest loans to farmers to begin cleaning up and get their businesses running again.
