Australian Open: World No 3 Garbine Muguruza makes shock 2nd round exit

In Tennis, world number three Garbine Muguruza today made a shock second-round exit from the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, at Melbourne.The Spaniard, last year's Wimbledon champion, was stunned by world number 88 Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei in straight sets, 6-7, 4-6. British number one Johanna Konta, seeded 9th, also made an exit. However, Russian Maria Sharapova, still working her way back from a 15-month ban, was among those who made it to the third round.Meanwhile, in the Men's Doubles, India began their campaign on a positive note today. The pair of Leander Paes and Purav Raja, the Indo-French duo of Rohan Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, and the Indo-American team of Divij Sharan and Rajeev Ram progressed to the second round after brilliant victories.Six-time champion Novak Djokovic, seeded 14th, advanced to the third round with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 win over Frenchman Gael Monfils. Djokovic is returning to action for the first time since Wimbledon.
