Romanian world number one Simona Halep set up a fourth-round showdown with Serena Williams at the Australian Open Tennis after beating her sister Venus.

Halep delivered an assertive performance against the 38-year-old American in Melbourne registering a 6-2 6-3 victory.

Halep will meet seven-time Australian Open champion Serena Williams in the fourth round. 

Earlier, Serena reached the last 16 by defeating 18-year-old Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska. 37-year-old Serena won 6-2, 6-1 in one hour and seven minutes.

In Men's Singles, Novak Djokovic defeated Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 to reach the Australian Open last 16. 

Djokovic will face 22-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round. Medvedev, who cruised into the last 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time, beat Belgian David Goffin 6-2, 7-6, 6-3. Japanese Kei Nishikori defeated Portuguese player Joao Sousa in straight-sets 7-6, 6-1, 6-2.
