Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi have entered the mixed doubles semi-finals of the Australian Open Tennis tournament in Melbourne . They beat Liezel Huber of USA and Colin Fleming of Great Britain in straight sets 7-6, 6-2. After being stretched in the opening set which went right down to the wire, the Indian pair asserted their supremacy in the second to win the 84-minute contest. Earlier, Sania and her partner Elena Vesnina of Russia missed a great opportunity to make the women's doubles final when they went down to the Russian duo of Vera Zvonareva and Svetlana Kuznetsova. In Mixed Doubles, the Indo-Russian pair of Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina today advanced into the quarterfinals of the event. They defeated Marcin Matkowski of Poland and his partner from Chinese Taipie Su-Wei Hsieh, 6-3, 7-5. In the Men's Doubles, the Indo-Czech combine of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek on Wednesday waltzed into the semi-finals, beating the American-Brazilian combine of Eric Butorac and Bruno Soares, 6-4, 7-6. In the Men Singles defending champion Novak Djokovic stormed into the semi finals. Serbian Djokovic defeated David Ferrer of Spain 6-4, 7-6, 6-1 in quarterfinals on Wednesday. Djokovic will meet Andy Murray in the semi finals.
