In the Australian Open Tennis tournament being held in Melbourne, Roger Federer stormed into the final in the Men's singles event today. The 17-time Grand Slam champion defeated world number four Stanislas Wawrinka 7-5, 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3. The Swiss player will face either Rafael Nadal or Grigor Dimitrov in Sunday's final. It will be 35-year-old Federer's sixth Australian final and 28th Grand Slam decider in total.In Women's singles event, Serena Williams has now zeroed in on a record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title by setting up a final against her older sister Venus. Serena beat unseeded Mirjana Lucic-Baroni of Croatia in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinal. Earlier, 36 year old Venus, the tournament's oldest Women's finalist beat fellow American CoCo Vandeweghe 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 to enter the final. In Mixed Doubles, Leander Paes and his Swiss team-mate Martina Hingis bowed out in the quarter-finals. They lost to the Aussie team of Sam Groth and Samantha Stosur, 6-3, 6-2. The local favourite pair will, now take on the Indo-Croatian duo of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig for a place in the Final.
