Leander Peas and his Swiss teammate Martina Hingis today lifted the Mixed Doubles trophy of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season. Later in the day, Serbia's world number one Novak Djokovic won a fifth Australian Open Men's singles title in Melbourne, beating Britain's Andy Murray in four sets in the final.The seventh seeded Indo-Swiss pair of Paes and Hingis defeated the higher placed Canadian-French team of Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. This was Paes' third Mixed Doubles title at the Australian Open and 15th overall. For Martina, it was the ninth title at Melbourne.Congratulating Leander Paes on the Mixed Doubles victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet message said Paes continues to make India proud.Djokovic won the Men's singles title defeating Murray 7-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-0.The victory means Djokovic stays at world number one on the next ATP rankings when they are released on Monday. Serena Williams had bagged the Women's Singles title for the sixth time yesterday when American defeated second seeded Russian Maria Sharapova, 6-3, 7-6.
