In Tennis, Rohan Bopanna and his Hungarian team-mate Timea Babos today stormed into the Mixed Doubles quarterfinals of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, at Melbourne. The fifth-placed pair defeated the unseeded Croatian-American team of Franko Skugor and Vania King, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Bopanna in Mixed Doubles is the only Indian challenge left in the tournament. For a place in the semi-finals, Bopanna and Timea will play against the Colombian-American pair of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears tomorrow.In the Singles, world number three Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and Ukraine's fourth seed Elina Svitolina today made shocking exits in the quarterfinals after losing to unseeded players.While Dimitrov was stunned by Briton Kyle Edmund, 4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, Svitolina lost to Belgian Elise Mertens, 4-6, 0-6. World number one Rafael Nadal and second seed Caroline Wozniacki will be eying to book a place in the semi-finals today.
