Sailing on its winning streak in the Commonwealth Hockey in previous two matches to reserve the Centre place at the podium, India however, lost the finals with Australia by 8-0 in a very disappointing manner. In this highly electrifying match, in the beginning, Australia, riding on its speed and technical skill, hit the Indian Goal Post four times, twice through penalty corner and twice by hitting field goals. India, which otherwise got the first penalty corner of the match in the first session could not convert it into a goal.Before the start of second session, stands started getting emptied but many still sat in a hope that India may turn the tables…but in vain. In the second session, Australia again hit the Indian Goal Post four times, once by converting a penalty corner into a goal and thrice through field goals. India managed to reach near to the Australian goal post only twice in the whole match but failed to do anything.However, India got the Silver and Bronze went to New Zealand which defeated England in a penalty shoot-out by 5-3.
