The oldest rivalry in Test cricket, the Ashes begins in Cardiff this afternoon. England are hosting the tournament this time around, with Australia being the reigning champions. They had defeated England, 5-0 at their home soil the last time in 2013-14 to claim the all-important urn. Today's first Test of the 5-match series will begin at 3:30 PM Indian Time at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The Test series will be followed by a T-20 and 5-match ODI series. Australia and Ireland are also scheduled to play a one-dayer in the series which will conclude on the 13th of September.
