Australia strongly placed in Adelaide test against India<br/>

Australia have taken control of the rain-affected first Cricket Test against India at Adelaide. At close of play on the rain-truncated second day today, the hosts were 517 for 7 in their first innings after resuming the day at their overnight 354 for six. Captain Michael Clarke defied a back injury, which had forced him to leave the field yesterday, to notch up his 28th Test ton with a fine 128. Overnight not out batsman Steven Smith, clinched his fifth Test century. He was unbeaten on a career-best 162 when play was called off early due to fading light and rain interruptions. Mitchell Johnson, was the other not out batsman with no score to his credit. Nearly four hours of cricket was lost on Day Two, as intermittent showers sent the players off the field, time and again. Only 30.4 overs could be bowled during the day.
