Australia beat Sri Lanka in the first One Day International by 107 runs in Melbourne today. Phillip Hughes became the first Australian to score a century on ODI debut and George Bailey fell just short of a captain's hundred to drive Australia to 5 for 305. Three sharp run-outs derailed Sri Lanka's chase of 306 runs and the visitors were wrapped up at 198 in 40 overs. For the visitors, Chandimal scored 73 runs while Tilakaratne Dilshan 51 both of whom were responsible for a 94 run partnership . The second ODI between the two teams is slated for Sunday in Adelaide.
