Australia crushed India by 122 runs in the opening Test on day four in Melbourne on Thursday, destroying their batting line-up with aggressive pace. The win gives Michael Clarke's team a 1-0 lead in the 4 test series. India, chasing 292 runs for victory, were never in the hunt after they slumped to 81 for 6 late in the middle session. The tourists, who have yet to win a series in Australia in 64 years, were routed for 169 off 47.5 overs after Australia squeezed another 61 runs from their remaining two wickets. It was a bowlers' Test match with no batsman on either side scoring a century and Sachin Tendulkar has to wait for the next test beginning in Sydney on Tuesday for his much awaited 100th international century.
