Government today said it is committed to increasing coal production in the country. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Coal secretary Anil Swarup said that the auction of 15 coal blocks has fetched over Rs 83,000 crore. Mr Swarup said that out of the 83 blocks being auctioned, 56 will be for the power sector. He expressed confidence that either the auctioning, or the allocation of 83 coal blocks will be completed by 31st March. Mr Swarup said, eastern states Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are getting significant benefits due to the coal blocks auctions
