Attack should be treated as an inspiration to fight against extremism: PM

The Prime Minister said the country will never bow down before Naxalism. He said, the incident should be treated as an inspiration in our fight against extremism and violence.

The Congress has called a Chhattisgarh Bandh today in protest against the Naxal attack. The Party workers are holding agitations throughout the State.

Prime Minister announced an exgratia relief of five lakh rupees each to the families of those killed in the Maoist attack. He also announced 50 thousand rupees exgratia to each of the injured in the incident from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
As already reported, the incident took place yesterday evening when heavily armed Maoists ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders in Baster district.

Meanwhile, more than 600 CRPF personnel including Cobra Commandos have been rushed to sanitise and take control of the attack site. The Centre has mobilized the CRPF personnel not only to take control of the area but also launch search and rescue operations in the nearby jungles.

Later, Prime Minister, Congress President and others huddled into a high level meeting at Raj Bhawan to take stock of the situation and review the security situation in the State. Chhattisgsarh. State governor Shekhar Dutt, chief minister Raman Singh, chief secretary Sunil Kumar and other senior civil and police officials are attending the meeting.
