Attack on Indian Embassy in Kabul condemned in Afghanistan & abroad

The attack at Indian embassy in Kabul which killed 17 people and injured more than sixty has been condemned within Afghanistan and abroad. Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the blast said the heinous act of terror was an obvious attack on civilians and the perpetrators of this attack and those who planned it were vicious terrorists.<br/><br/>Most of the victims were innocent Afghan shopkeepers and visa-seekers who were there when the blast occurred. Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack saying Indian embassy and its officials were the target. Afghanistan foreign minister Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta and interior minister Mr. Hanif Atmar visited the Indian embassy and expressed their condolences for the victims.<br/><br/>Dr. Spanta said terrorism will not deter in their efforts to rebuild Afghanistan and asserted that strategic relations with India will continue despite efforts to disrupt it. Interior minister Mr. Atmar said they will do everything to bring culprits to justice and assured Indian embassy of all the support to improve the security.<br/><br/>Indian ambassador in Afghanistan Mr. Jayant Prasad in a statement expressed his hear felt condolences to those innocent Afghans who were killed and injured in the attack. He said Indian nationals will continue to work with full dedication for reconstruction and development of Afghanistan. EU foreign policy Chief Javier Solana said the perpetrators will not succeed in destabilising Afghan society and undermining international efforts in Afghanistan.
