ATS Maharastra foil terror plot to blow ONGC oil tanks

Two persons were arrested in Mumbai by Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad yesterday for allegedly working on a plot to attack Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, offshore installations of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and other targets in the city – fuel storage tanks, a shopping mall and a cloth market.<br/><br/>The Mumbai Killa court sent the two accused to police custody till March 18. They have been charged under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, for their alleged involvement in the ONGC terror pot.<br/><br/>our correspondent reports that With the arrest of two local men in their 20s, Mumbai has escaped another big terror attack planned yet again by a Pakistan based outfit. Abdul Latif from Bandra and Riyaz Ali from Dahisar were arrested by the Anti terrorism Squad. They were picked up late on Saturday night.<br/><br/>These arrests come a week after the state issued a terror alert. ATS K P Raghuvanshi claims that the two were working on three targets – ONGC tanks in Bandra, Mangaldas market in south Mumbai and Thakkar Mall at Borivali. Their targets and instructions were allegedly given by a phone by handlers believed to be based in Pakistan.
