Atomic Energy Commission: India's nuclear reactors safe

Atomic Energy Commission of India's Chairman Shrikumar Banerjee has said that Indian nuclear power plants safe for operation and were equipped with the necessary safety measures to withstand seismic and tsunami threats.

He was addressing the gathering as the chief guest at the foundation day function organised at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced technology in Indore.

He praised the Centre's efforts for round-the-clock operation of Indus 2, the synchro radiation source, which was drawing reserchers from all over the country.

He said, India is the only country in the world that is capable of producing energy through nuclear power at the cheapest cost.
