In Iraq, atleast 11 people were killed when a car bomb exploded in Tikrit, North of Baghdad yesterday. A security official said, that the bomb exploded when a police patrol passed through the centre of Tikrit. Several policemen were among the dead. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The attack was the deadliest in Tikrit since March 29th when Al-Qaeda raided the city's provincial council offices, leading to a bloody hours-long gun battle with security forces that left 58 people dead.
