Athletes give thumbs up to CWG Village

The athletes have given a thumbs-up to the Commonwealth Games Village and are making the best out of it. By evening the sprawling arena near the Akshardham temple turns into a city of fun, laughter and regalia for those inside. After a tough day at the training areas, the athletes let their hair down at the International Zone inside the Village, boasting of a restaurant, gaming zone, beauty salon, ice-cream parlour and even a discotheque. An athlete from Kenya said that it is a wonderful place. The Kenyan said that one can get to see the Indian cultural programmes and moreover they can just sit down and have a drink. She along with her friends were getting pictures clicked at the musical fountain with the replicas of Manipuri dancers behind them. A quick stop at the just opened bar-cum-restaurant also throws up a scene of fun, laughter and joy. Some members of the English team can be seen sitting in a large circle and raising a toast. Just beside it is the gaming zone where athletes can unwind by playing billiards, pool, foosball or even board games among others. The zone also has an Indian handicraft shop and there is also a branch of the Central Bank and an ATM inside. For those who just want to sit down and enjoy a cultural evening, one can do that at the open amphitheatre where school children keep churning out one programme or another.
