Athawale asserts whole country has been integrated through new economic transformation in form of GST

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr. Ramdas Athawale has asserted that the whole country has been integrated through the new economic transformation in the form of Goods and Service Tax regime which was commissioned since the last midnight.

He further said that the concept of social and economic freedom, as envisioned by the architect of Indian Constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, has become a reality today with the adoption of this revolutionary indirect tax regime. He was speaking to reporters in Nagpur today.

The Republican Party of India President said that the new regime would curb the mentality of tax evasion and corruption
which would in turn result in greater realization of revenue collection. The funds would be available for spending on several projects of infrastructural development and welfare schemes for the benefit of poor and disadvantaged people.

With this, the long-pending irrigation projects like Gosikhurd in Vidarbha could be completed earlier and the plight of the distressed farmers could be mitigated to a certain extent in the suicide-prone areas in Maharashtra, he added.
