ATF prices to go up from midnight

Aviation Turbine Fuel – ATF – prices will go up by 2.7 percent from midnight tonight. The decision was taken by State-owned oil firms today. It will cost 41177 rupees per kilolitre in Delhi now, an increase of 1,078 rupees. The price of ATF in Mumbai will be 42484 rupees, an increase of 1,123 rupees. The increase follows a 3.3 per cent hike in prices announced on the 16th of this month.ATF rates make up for about 40 per cent of the operating cost of an airline. It has been cranked up on nine occasions since March. Today's hike in fuel rates will increase the burden on Indian carriers, but no comments have come in so far from airlines on the impact on passenger fares.Indian Oil Corporation and its sister PSU fuel retailers revise jet fuel prices on the first and the 16th of every month, based on the average global oil price in the previous fortnight.
