Centre has released 100 crore as its contribution for the year 2015-16 for around 17 lakh eligible subscribers of Atal Pension Yojana (APY). The scheme provides for government's co-contribution which is half of the subscriber's contribution up to a maximum of one thousand rupees per annum. <br/><br/>Finance Ministry in a release said, more than 30 lakh subscribers have registered under Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and every day nearly 5000 new subscribers are being added. <br/><br/>The government had launched the scheme last year to address the longevity risks among the workers in unorganised sector and encourage them to voluntarily save for their retirement.<br/><br/>The schemes provides minimum guaranteed pension ranging between 1000 to 5000 rupees per month for the subscriber from the age of 60 years. The Same amount of pension is paid to the spouse in case of subscriber's demise.
