<span style="color: #222222;">The government today said at present eight thousand four hundred forty-one Indian prisoners are in foreign jails. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan said out of these, over four thousand are lodged in Gulf countries.  He said India and UAE have signed an agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons under which the Indian nationals lodged in UAE prisons can be transferred to India to serve the remainder of their sentence.   </span><br />
