At least ten people killed in a ferry tragedy

In Bangladesh, at least ten people including seven children were killed when a ferry bound for Lalmohon from Dhaka partially capsized on Friday late in the night. The motor launch was carrying nearly 1500 passengers from Dhaka who were going back to their villages for the Eid Holidays. The overloaded launch capsized near Nazirpur which is 40 kilometres from Bhola town when its hull was breached. Most of the passengers managed to escape, while more than 50 people were injured when they tried jumping overboard as the launch began to capsize. The number of casualties may go up. The police and local people are working together to rescue survivors and recover any bodies which may be in the hold of the vessel. <br/>
