In Pakistan, at least one policeman was killed and six others injured following an attack on a patrolling van this morning in the northwest district of Bannu. Media reports said the attack was triggered by a roadside remote-control bomb in the Janikhel area. This is the second attack on police within the last 24 hours in the Bannu district, which is considered to be a stronghold of militants. On Wednesday evening, 20 people were killed and 30 others injured in a suicide car bomb in the area.
