In Afghanistan, at least one person was killed when a suicide bomber struck outside the headquarters of the governor of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday. The attack in the heart of Jalalabad, the capital of the province, happened during the morning rush hour as a group of officials were entering the compound.Officials said a district chief was among those killed, but the fate of the provincial governor, Gul Agha Sherazi, who has survived several attacks by the Taliban in the past, was unclear. Flames could be seen rising from the site of the blast and security forces had cordoned off several roads leading to the area in the city which lies near the border with Pakistan.
