The worst floods to hit parts of Thailand in decades have left at least ninety four people dead. The Emergency Medical Institute of Thailand reported 26 more people had been killed in the floods, which began on October 10. The authorities estimate that several million people have been affected, with homes submerged, farmland and cattle destroyed, mostly in central and eastern areas.Heavy rain and bad weather have battered countries in the region of late. In Vietnam, dozens were killed in floods, while in southern China, the Philippines and Taiwan, Typhoon Megi killed at least 48 people. In Myanmar, the scale of the damage caused by Cyclone Giri has not yet been ascertained.
