At least nine people die in Russia

At least nine people have died in Russia after a fire swept through a retirement home in the central region of Tver, north-west of Moscow. The cause of the blaze is being investigated. One woman was injured. Nearly 480 people were evacuated from the building. The victims died due to asphyxiation. The cause of the fire is being investigated. In January last year, more than 20 people died at another Russian retirement centre highlighting safety lapses in state-run institutions.
