In Afghanistan, at least nine civilians were killed and 30 others injured in a suicide attack in the eastern province of Khost. Police said the attack took place in a crowded area of Khost city. The dead included six men and three women. The explosion damaged houses and shops in the area. Police said they became suspicious of the bomber and opened fire, the bomber then blew himself up. The death toll is likely to go up as some of the injured are in a serious condition.
