At least a dozen civilians have been killed in two separate incidents of roadside bomb blasts in Afghanistan during the past 24 hours. A family of seven died when their vehicle struck a bomb in Panjwayi district of southern Kandahar province this morning. A spokesman for the provincial governor said all in the car including two young children died in the blast. Another bomb blast Tuesday evening killed five people in western Farah province. A police spokesman said the civilians were traveling in a private van to
neighbouring Ghor province when their vehicle hit the bomb. Eight
others in the van were wounded. Taliban militants are increasingly planting roadside bombs to target security personnel but civilians are bearing the brunt of such blasts.
