In China, at least 43 people were killed and 53 others injured when a passenger plane crashed with 96 people on board in northwestern Heilongjiang Province last night. Provincial government officials said that the ill-fated aircraft of the Henan Airlines overshot the fog-shrouded runway when it was to land at the Lindu airport in Yichun and burst into flames. State-run Xinhua news agency reported that 43 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage of the plane. Another 53 injured passengers have been hospitalised.
