At least 42 children have been killed after a cargo truck carrying them crashed into a road side ditch in Mirasarai Upazila of Chittagong in Bangladesh. The school students were returning home in the ill fated truck after winning an inter-school football tournament when the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the road side ditch. According to local police officials the names of 42 people have been listed as dead till around seven p.m in the evening when the search and rescue teams ended the operations for the day.The truck was reported to have been carrying more than 60 students when the accident occurred. The Bangladesh government has constituted a three member enquiry committee to probe into the incident. Bangladesh President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have condoled the death of students in the road mishap and directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
