In Pakistan, at least 41 people were killed and 15 injured in a US drone attack in the restive north western tribal region. The attack took place at Datta Khel, 25 km west of Miranshah, one of the main towns in North Waziristan Agency on Thursday. Reports from North Waziristan said, the US drones attacked a vehicle while it was passing by a compound where a tribal jirga or council was meeting to settle a dispute between two groups. Pakistan Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said that the US drones carelessly and callously targeted a tribal jirga.
