At least 37 people killed and over four hundred injured in a fire at container depot in Bangladesh

<span style="color: #222222;">The death toll in the Inland Container Depot fire at Sitakunda near the Chattogram port has risen to 37 with more bodies brought to the Chattogram Medical College and Hospital in the afternoon on Sunday. <br />''<br />''At least 5 firefighters are also included among the people who lost their lives during the devastating fire that started last night. No official figures are available about the number of injured but various sources put the number between 300-400 including more than a dozen firemen and police personnel. The death toll is likely to rise as several of the people brought to the hospital at Chattogram are in serious condition.<br />''<br />''The Fire Services team was still working to completely douse the fire in the area while 250 members of the  Bangladesh army were also involved in the relief and rescue operation at the site. A special team of firefighters has been dispatched from Dhaka to Chattogram to assist in the efforts of the local team of firefighters.<br />''<br />''The fire is believed to have originated from a container storing highly inflammable chemicals for export. The fire started around 9.30 local time last night and quickly spread in the surrounding area leading to a massive explosion that was heard several kilometers away.<br />''<br />''According to the Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association (BICDA), close to 800 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of containers loaded with Ready Made Garments and frozen foods including 300 empty were destroyed in the fire. The BICDA estimates the loss to be over USD 110 million.<br />''<br />''Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the loss of lives and injuries in the BM Container depot fire at Sitakunda in Chattogram. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated Taka one crore in cash and 1,000 packets of dry and other food items as humanitarian assistance for the victims of the Sitakunda fire. The local administration has announced Taka 50, 000 for the families of the deceased while Taka 20,000 for the families of the injured people.</span><br />
