At least 35 persons of a marriage party killed in a train-bus collision in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, 35 people were killed and 20 injured in a road mishap in Kanshiram Nagar district on Wdenesday night. AIR correspondent reports that the deceased belonged to Yadavgarhi village in Etah district. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced ex-gratia payment for the families of the victims in Wednesday night's rail accident in Kanshiram Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Singh expressed extreme grief over the loss of life in the accident. 36 members of a marriage party were killed and 29 injured in the accident. The Prime minister has announced 2 lakh rupees for the kin of each person killed, 50,000 rupees each for seriously injured and 10,000 rupees each for those with simple injuries. Dr. Singh, who also holds the Railway portfolio, ordered a high-level inquiry by the Commissioner of Rail Safety into the mishap.UP Chief Minister Mayawati has also announced compensation to the family of the victims of the accident. 2 lakh rupees will be given to the kin of each person killed, 50,000 rupees each for the seriously injured and 25,000 rupees each for those with simple injuries.This mishap took place when a bus carrying marriage party was hit by a Chhapara bound express train on an unmanned railway crossing near Narahar railway station in Patiyali tehsil of the district. Three seriously injured people have been referred to Agra hospital, while the other injured are admitted to the Etah hospital.
