In Afghanistan, at least 30 people were killed and scores injured in a series of blasts carried out by Taliban suicide bombers in Kandhar. Bombs were detonated at a newly fortified prison, police headquarters and two other locations yesterday.<br/><br/>Afghan President Hamid Karzai's half-brother Ahmed Wali Karzai said the prison was the main target, but no prisoners escaped. He said two of the explosions occurred near his home, which was not damaged. Mr Karzai said, one suicide attack struck at the front gate of the Kandahar police headquarters, causing a lot of casualties.
