At least 27 workers had fallen ill today following leakage of methane gas at the Durgapur Steel plant in West Bengal.<br/><br/>The incident happened when the lethal gas leaked out from furnace number 2 of the plant. The gas also spread inside the casting area. <br/><br/>The convenor of the Durgapur Steel plant Mr. B.R. Kanungo said that the matter was being investigated. The injured include five women workers and three permanent workers. The affected has been shifted to Durgapur Steel plant hospital for treatment.
