At least 14 killed in Karachi violence

In Pakistan, at least 14 people have been killed in two days of violence in the city of Karachi. Reports say, the unrest is thought to be linked to the recent murder in London of Imran Farooq, a founding member of the MQM party whose power base is in Karachi. At least nine people were killed in day-long violence yesterday. The latest clashes were sparked during the funeral of a man who was killed during Sunday's demonstrations. Report says, MQM activists returning from funerals of people killed on Sunday fought with the paramilitary Rangers in at least two localities of Karachi. But the MQM accuses the government and the interior ministry in particular of being behind the violence. Meanwhile, gunmen riding motor-bikes have targeted a number of individuals in different parts of the city. Those targeted included members of the MQM, President Sardari's Pakistan People's Party and the banned sectarian Sipah-e-Sahaba militant outfit.
