In Pakistan, at least ten people were killed as violence escalated in the port city of Karachi following the killing of a local party leader this morning. The violence broke out hours after a local leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead by unknown gunmen at his home in the early hours today. The gunmen also shot and injured two relatives of the slain party leader and two MQM supporters were also injured in the attack.
According to reports, over fifty vehicles were tourched following the violence. MQM blamed its rival Peoples Peace Committee for the killing of its party worker, but the group has denied any involvement in the killing.
