Asylum seekers has been intercepted in Australia

A boat carrying asylum seekers has been intercepted in Australian waters, the second in the past 24 hours. A government official said 22 people and four crew were on board. The boat was stopped by a Customs ship near Ashmore Islands early this afternoon, and the asylum seekers were being taken to Christmas Island for security, identity and health checks. It is the second boat to be intercepted in 24 hours after a boat carrying 29 passengers and two crew members was intercepted by a Navy ship in waters north-west of Australia.<br/>
