Astha Pahwa enters last eight of World Youth Boxing, Shashi Chopra in last 16

India's campaign was off to a reasonably good start after Ashtha Pahwa entered quarterfinals while Shashi Chopra made the last-16 stage after winning their respective opening bouts at the AIBA Women's Youth World Boxing Championships at Guwahati today. In 69 KG category, Astha defeated her Bulgarian opponent Melis N Yonuzova, in her opening round contest which was also the pre-quarter-final. In 57 kg Shashi, came out strongly in her preliminary round to defeat her Uzbekistan opponent Rakhmatova Durdonakhon. Shashi, the gold-medallist from Balkan Youth International Championship, will next face the Chinese Taipei's Lin Li Wei-Yi, who got a first-round bye. However, in 60-kilogram category, Vanlalhriatpuii went down to South Korea's Im Aeji in a split verdict in her opening bout. Nearly 200 players from over 30 countries are taking part in the event. India has a strong 10 members contingent in the event.
