In Uttarakhand, campaigning for assembly elections has reached its peak as it will come to an end tomorrow. Star campaigners of major political parties including Congress and BJP are making their last ditch efforts to woo the voters. Former Chief Ministers and Congress leader ND Tiwari and the BJP leader Bhagat Singh Koshihari are campaigning for their party candidates in Kumaon region. In Punjab, more than 32 crore rupees has been seized so far by the surveillance team at different places besides this large quantity of illicit liquor, opium, heroin, smack and other drugs have also been seized. All the distilleries of the state are being locked during night to avoid any discharge of liquor during night from there.Surveillance teams of Election Commission check vehicles on the roads. Tight security is being maintained all over the state by especially in the 999 identified vulnerable areas.Election Commission has started distributing election slips to the voters with photographs at their homes.To create confidence among the voters security Punjab Police and para-military forces are organising flag marches at different places in the state. There will be total ban on the use of liquor in the state and all liquor shops will remain closed from 28th to 30th evening.
