Assembly bypolls: BJP suffers loss in UP, Gujarat & Rajasthan; SP gains in UP, Congress in Gujarat, Rajasthan

In Uttar Pradesh, out of eleven assembly seats, where by-elections were held the ruling Samajwadi Party has won eight seats whereas BJP candidates have won three seats.

All the eleven seats were vacated by BJP and its ally Apnadal as their MLAs were elected as MPs in recent Loksabha elections.

In Gujarat, out of nine assembly seats, the BJP won six seats, while the Congress has won three seats.

Our correspondent reports, the Congress has snatched Khambhaliya, Mangrol and Deesa Assembly seats from BJP, while BJP retained Maninagar, Talaja, Tankara, Limkheda, Anand and Matar Assembly seats.

In Rajashtan, all four results have been declared. Congress have won three and BJP one seat. Congress candidates won in Surajgarh, Weir and Nasirabad constituencies, whereas Kota South assembly seat has gone in favour of BJP candidate .

In West Bengal, BJP candidate has won in Basirhat South assembly by-election defeating his nearest Trinamool Congress candidate while ruling Trinamool Congress has retained the Chowringhee seat in Kolkata.

Our correspondent reports that BJP will enter the state assembly after 15 years.

In Andhra Pradesh, Tangirala Soumya of Telugu Desam Party has won the by-elections for Nandigama Assembly Constituency.

In Assam, out of three assembly seats, Congress candidate won the Lakhipur seat by 9172 votes. Official announcement is yet to come.

In Silchar BJP's Dilip Paul was leading by 36,000 votes. In Jamunamukh assembly constituency, All India United Democratic Front candidate Abdur Rahim Ajmal was leading by 19,000 votes.

In Sikkim, an Independent Candidate Rup Narayan Chamling has won the Bye-Election of Rangang-Yangang seat in south district with margin of 706 votes. He has defeated the Sikkim Democratic Front candidate Kumari Manger.
